Currents Gallery 12 X12 Art Show
Maureen has been very busy this week! She created two pieces for the Currents Gallery 12 X 12 Art Show which runs from October 12, 2011 through November 14, 2011 in McMinnville, Oregon.
"Fan Fret Windows" is a fiber arts creation inspired by the Bits and Pieces display at Quiltopia 2011 in Salem the first week of October. Working out-of-square was quite a challenge, Maureen being such a stickler for parallel lines and matching corners. When asked to describe the piece, she said "Out of Whack!" and "Twisted!" Tom was thinking it was whimsical, much like his artistic wife.
The second piece, entitled "Working Girl" is a multi-media tribute to secretaries of an earlier time. Printed papers, typewriter ribbon, alcohol inks, a typist's eraser, rubber stamps, a telephone charm, vintage spectacles, thumbtacks, staples, and a functioning rotary dial unit combine to make this 12 X 12 a one-of-a-kind wonder.
